Visiting Service

visiting-schemeCommunity Visiting Service

How do I volunteer?
If you have any time to spare and would like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you. We will offer you the opportunity to take part in various training programmes and will support you in your work as a volunteer.

You would be offering friendly company to some one who may have no other visitors. Most volunteer visitors chat about common interests and bring news about what is happening in the local area. Sometimes they also provide a shopping service or take the client out.

How often will I need to visit?
Volunteers usually visit people on a weekly or fortnightly basis for about one hour at a time. However, visiting times are flexible and arranged at a time to suit both you and the person being visited.

So what do I do next?
An information pack is avilable from the Volunteer Centre. You can request this by e-mail from projects@ndvsa.co.uk. You will be asked to complete a registration form and to provide two references. This type of voluntary work is subject to an enhanced disclosure (Criminal Records Bureau Check) being carried out.

We run a number of schemes enabling volunteers to support people living within the local area who may be socially isolated due to their age, disability, lack of public transport or by virtue of them living alone.
